Ram Rahim sentenced to life imprisonment52-year-old Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty in the murder of a journalist back in 2002, the daughter of the journalist says that her family is really happy by the punishment that is given to him by the Supreme Court.

Shreyasi Chhatrapati the daughter of the journalist said: “Though we were demanding capital punishment, this sentence is no less than the death sentence as he will not be able to come out of the jail for his entire life. He will be behind bars till his last breath.”

Outside his house Journalist Ramchander Chhatrapati was shot back in 2002, this happened after he published “Poora Sach” a letter that exposed how women were being sexually abused in Dera Sacha Sauda by Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim and three others were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Journalist Ramchander Chhatrapati, this was sentenced by a Special CBI Court.

Shreyasi Chhatrapati said: “Gurmeet will now remember his crime every day and then weep while being in jail. We are satisfied with the quantum of punishment pronounced by the court.”

Judge Jagdeep Singh convicted three others and Gurmeet Ram Rahim for the murder that occurred in 2002, they were sentenced on January 11.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also sentenced for 20 years in prison after found guilty in a rape case that was charged against him.

Kuldeep Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Krishan Lal are currently held in the Ambala Jail. While Gurmeet Ram Rahim is held in the Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.
