The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE), is the authority which conducts the Public Examinations at Middle, Matric (Secondary or High School) and Senior Secondary School (Academic & Vocational) levels twice a year in the state of Haryana through the affiliated schools. Though the cumulative score in the HBSE 12th Result was just fair with 62.4 percent, it made a considerable improvement over the previous year records by 9 percent. The pass percentage of Girl students was fairly higher at 70.8 as compared to the boys who could manage only 55.8 percent.

More than 2.5 lakh students took the HBSE board exam 2016, only 1.5 lakh were able to clear the examination, The pass percentage in the science stream was at 69.9 percent and 59.9 percent and 59.35 percent in the Arts and Commerce stream respectively.
