Indian Women’s Hockey Team Defeats Japan 3-1 In FIH Women’s Series Finals

On Sunday, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team defeated Japan 3-1 in the FIH Women’s Series Finals that was being held at the Hiroshima Hockey Stadium.

And last night, the team came back to India and was whole-heartedly welcomed by their fans.

The players and staff of the women’s hockey team arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on June 24, 2019, evening.

Fans and media outlets gave them a warm welcome and were seen applauding when they came out from the arrival gate.

Gurjit Kaur scored two goals in the match against Japan, she helped secure the W for the team. But it was Rani Rampal, the team captain of India’s women’s hockey team, who scored the first goal for the team.

Rani Rampal has played outstanding in the tournament, she was also named the player of the tournament.

The women’s hockey team of India is currently ranked 9th in the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted about the win of the team.

The PM said, “Exceptional game, excellent outcome! Congratulations to our team for winning the Women’s FIH Series Finals hockey tournament. This stupendous victory will further popularise hockey and also inspire many young girls to excel in the sport.”
