Kawhi Leonard Ripple Effect: Decision Can Force Los Angeles Lakers To Delay Anthony Davis Trade
Considered as one of the most anticipated moves of the 2019 NBA free agency, Kawhi Leonard is yet to make a decision and is rumored that it can still take a couple of days before the Finals MVP makes his decision.
If Kawhi Leonard does not sign with a team by the end of the NBA’s Moratorium Period, which is on noon E.T. of Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers will have to delay the AD deal, and will also affect the Pelicans, Hawks, and the Wizards.
It will delay the trade of Solomon Hill and the signing of JJ Redick, for the Pelicans, De’Andre Hunter cannot play for the Hawks in the Summer League, Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jamerrio Jones cannot play in the Summer League for the Wizards.
The Los Angeles Lakers are set to offer a max deal for Kawhi Leonard that is worth $138 Million for four years.
The Toronto Raptors are the only team in the NBA right now that can offer Kawhi Leonard a 5 year $190 Million max deal.
According to Josh Lewenberg, these are the things that will get affected by the decision of Kawhi Leonard:
