India Vs Sri Lanka series has begun, with Shikhar Dhawan and Pujara being the torch bearers with staggering centuries in the first innings, Indian team managed to bag a massive 600 runs altogether. Despite the exceptional bowling at 6/132 from Nuwan Pradeep, none has shined brighter from Sri Lankan team.
Galle series is almost now one sided with India as the favorite. Though India wrapped up the second day of the innings with losing the seven wickets for little 201 runs, thanks to the openers, it ended up better enough. Riding on Upul Tharanga’s 64 runs, just before him losing the wicket in the most bizarre way, Indian bowlers restricted further runs packing the team at 292 runs.
In the end, it is Dilruwan Perera’s unbeaten on 92 that dragged the total to 291, losing all wickets.
Post the innings, former Sri Lankan player Russell Arnold tried to shed some hope on the Lankan team, in a bid to accomplish this, he attempted to talk about facts. In spite of being trying to be positive, he posted a tweet that almost sounded over confident.
Check out the Tweet here:
The last time India scored 500+ against SL in SL in the first innings of a Bilateral test match…. SL replied with 952 #Fact #SLvIND
— Russel Arnold (@RusselArnold69) July 27, 2017
Russell was actually talking about the test series that took place years ago. In that match, India went past 500 on Day 2, harked back to the Colombo Test of 1997 when Sri Lanka batted for more than 3 days. He wrote that Sri Lanka had replied with 952 for 6 the last time India had amassed a score in excess of 500 in the first innings of the bilateral Test.
Meanwhile, Twitterati bashed Russell for the exaggeration and irrelevancy. Some went saying that Sri Lanka could barely hit the reverse of 952 i.e; 259 runs.

Reverse the digits, even if Sri Lanka get 259 I’ll be surprised.
