Caught on Cam: Phoenix police officers pointed gun at couple after their 4-year-old daughter took a doll from a store

A couple from Phoenix has filed a $10 Million USD lawsuit against the Phoenix Police Department for police brutality and for violating civil rights after a police officer pulled out his gun on the family.

The incident happened when Dravon Ames and Lesha Harper were sitting inside their car.

The police approached the after their 4-year-old daughter took a doll from a family dollar store.

Dravon and Lesha said that they were not aware of their daughter taking the doll.

The parents added that they noticed the doll when they were inside their car. This is when a police officer decided to pull up behind his car and allegedly pulled out his gun and pointed at them.

The lawsuit that was filed by the couple says that Dravon Ames was pulled out of the car, was kicked in his right leg, and was punched in his back.

Harper, who is currently pregnant, and her 4 and 1-year-old daughter remained inside the car.

The couple also claimed that a police officer pointed a gun at Lesha and their 2 kids.

Tom Horne, the representative lawyer of the family, who is also the former Attorney General of Arizona, said, “We’re talking about a little doll that’s worth maybe $5 and the horrors that came from the overreaction to that.”

The couple also said that they were being threatened by the police officers and were handcuffed. The incident happened on May 29, 2019, but the police said that it happened on May 27.

The Phoenix Police Department said that they are going to launch an investigation for the footage that has been shared online by the eye-witness. S

Dravon Ames and Lesha Harper claimed that the video shared by the bystander does not include the first 10 minutes of their encounter with the police.

No person has been arrested or has been charged, but the police have impounded their vehicle.

Dravon Ames claims that he has sustained injuries from the incident which has caused him unable to go to work.

Kate Gallego, the Mayor of Phoenix, has issued a statement about the incident and called the incident as “completely inappropriate and clearly unprofessional.”

During a press conference, Lesha Harper said, “After this, me and my daughters will never be the same anymore or feel the same for police because it seems like every police is out for blood or something. We wasn’t really doing anything.”
