A Rajasthan Armed Constabulary Head Constable committed suicide by shooting himself with his service gun outside the Union Finance Ministry’s Office in New Delhi on June 25, 2019.

48-year-old Jai Narain was assigned for his duty at the number 2 gate of the north block of the office.

The north block is home to the office of the Home Ministry and Ministry of Finance.

DCP Madhur Verma released a statement about the incident, the DCP said, “The incident took place at around 12.40 pm. In a CCTV footage, the man can be seen shooting himself with his service carbine.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jai Narain committed suicide as he was under depression.

Officials said that Narain was on his duty-break when he shot himself.

The 48-year-old sat under a tree after going to a gallery at the north block before shooting himself.

Authorities rushed him to a hospital near the area, but he was declared as dead upon arrival by the doctors.

Officials added that no suicide note was found from the area of the crime.

DCP Verma added that they will launch an investigation to know the real cause of why the Head Constable committed suicide.

The dead body of Constable Jai Narain has been sent for an autopsy.

Jai Narain is married and has two sons, his family has arrived from Rajasthan.
