Florida Man Arrested For Letting 12-Year-Old Girl Drive SUV At 85 MPH
Florida, USA: A 41-year-old man was arrested by the police and is currently facing felony charges after authorities found out that he allowed his 12-year-old daughter to drive his SUV at 85 miles per hour.
He allowed the girl to drive his SUV because he wanted to be a cool “father”, even though he was not her father.
41-year-old Shaun Michaelsen told the police on Monday (May 8, 2020) that he is friends with the mother of the girl.
Michaelsen told the police that her friend and her daughter were staying with him for a couple of days.
The 41-year-old man told the police that the girl had asked him earlier that day if she could drive his SUV, so he thought it would be cool to do so.
He also told the arrested officer that the man was trying to be a cool father to the girl.
Not only that, but he also admitted that he had been drinking.
Jupiter Officer Craig Yochum said in his arrest report that he saw the SUV make an illegal U-turn and then sped away at around 12:10 am on Monday.
He then followed the SUV, which reached the speeds of 85 miles per hour, before he was able to pull it over.
When the police asked the 12-year-old girl why she was driving so fast, she told the police because Michaelsen told her to do so.
41-year-old Michaelsen is charged with child neglect, allowing an unauthorized person to drive, and causing a minor to become a delinquent for buying the girls vape pens.
The man said that the girls requested the vape pens.
He was being held without bond on Tuesday at the Palm Beach County Jail.
Court records do not suggest if the 41-year-old man has an attorney representing him legally.
