“She who is Dark”, Kali, the goddess of time and death took over the New York City on Wednesday. The breathtaking artwork was displayed by filmmaker Louie Psihoyos and his team as a part of Projecting Change, a project which uses the Empire State Building as a canvas to spread awareness of wildlife expeditions.
Artist Android Jones designed the fierce portrait of Kali, who is the Goddess of Time, Change, Power and Destruction, to make the point that Mother Nature now more than ever needs a fierce avatar to fight the dangers of pollution and extinction. Her divine feminine energy was used as the final image to draw attention to the subject.

It was the last, most captivating artwork in the exhibition by filmmaker Louie Psihoyos called Projecting Change, which projected pictures of endangered creatures onto the NYC skyline withSan Francisco based Obscura Digital.It was meant to spark awareness of massive wildlife extinction, andto draw attention to the alarming rate at which species are dying.
The show endedwith a representation of Kali – the goddess of darkness – imploring people world over to fight the darkness and to take up conservation. It was a perfect image to show the ecological consciousness and how Mother Nature needs a fierce avatar to fight the dangers of pollution and extinction.
Why Goddess Kali?
Because She represents the destruction of evil, Android thought it would be a good idea to feature Her. Hence, he opines that She would work as the epitome to fight dangers and pollution.
Last month, The Empire state building featured pictures of endangered species of animal including Cecil the lion. The Empire State building’s famous light displays were used to draw attention to the plight of endangered wildlife animals.
