BCCI Announces New Bowling Coach For Indian Team, Bharat Arun To Join Team For Srilankan Series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) paid attention to the demands of Indian head coach Ravi Shastri and appointed Bharat Arun as the bowling coach. After the announcement of Head Coach, people questioned the role of Dravid and Zaheer Khan in the team.

BCCI clarified the doubts regarding this and mentioned Zaheer Khan and Dravid’s roles only for foreign tours and their role as just consultants and not coaches for those positions. Also, the conversation between Sehwag and Virat revealed the other side of coaching selection process.

Ravi Shastri remained adamant about the inclusion of Arun into the ranks as a full-time bowling coach, given that Zaheer Khan would only be available only for 150 days. Venkatesh Prasad, who stood for the race in bowling coach position didn’t get the chance while Arun joins under Ravi Shastri.

Bharat Arun is scheduled to join the Virat Led Indian Cricket Team for the Sri Lanka tour starting this July 22, where he would reunite with his old colleagues Sanjay Bangar and R Shridhar. “That has always been the practice and we’ve followed that by granting Ravi’s request. Arun will be back as the bowling coach,” commented a CoA member according to MumbaiMirror.
