Every year, the IPL Auctions spring up a plenty of surprises. IPL 2017 auction had a lot of surprises to the IPL fans as well as for the team owners. England all-rounder Ben Stokes was the talk of the town and there was an immediate bidding war when his name came up. Pune Supergiants took Ben Strokes for a whooping price of Rs. 14.5 crores.

Rising Pune Supergiants Owner Sanjiv Goenka made an ambitious bet for English all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs 14.5 crore drastically higher than his base price of Rs 2 crore. He is now the highest paid international player ahead of the previous high Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.

The franchises have been desperate to sign the England star and a fierce bidding war was very much expected. In fact, one of the franchises was so desperate to sign the all-rounder that they submitted their bid even before the auctioneer announced the player’s name.

One of the members of Mumbai Indians’ team had submitted the bid for the player even before Richard Madley’s announcement. However, the over-excitement from Mumbai team didn’t help them in output. Finally, the Englishman as he was sold to Rising Pune Supergiants for a massive Rs. 14.5 Crore.
