MS Dhoni Greeted With The Slogans Of Shahid Afridi In Kashmir

As team India is currently playing the 3-match Test series against Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni found some time to take charge as the Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. So, the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni paid a visit to Kunzar area of Baramulla District in Kashmir as a chief guest for the Chinar Cricket Premier League on Sunday.

The event was organized by Indian Army in North Kashmir. The local competition received a huge response this time around with as many as 110 teams participated. The organizers, hence, decided to invite Dhoni for the mega final in order to make the event a memorable one in the history of cricket in the district.

While thousands gathered early in the morning considering the Ranchi cricketer’s massive popularity across the world, in a shocking incident, pro-Shahid Afridi slogans were heard when Dhoni arrived at the venue. The actions of the people were surprising given the fact that he is considered as the stalwart of the Indian cricket.

In the video, we can see that some of the locals chanted ‘Boom Boom Afridi’ slogans as Dhoni, who holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, interacted with aspiring cricketers. This leaves people in a fix and they begin to wonder whether there’s Dhoni or Afridi gracing the cricket match.

They figure out it’s Dhoni. Then why is Shahid Afridi being eulogized?

The security forces had a tough task controlling the crowds who were going crazy behind MSD. According to reports, the fans were not let into the ground for some reason, which made them shout out Boom Boom Afridi. Apart from enjoying a nice game of cricket, Dhoni also visited the school and interacted with the students there citing the importance of study and sports equally.

He was also happy with the way the cricket was improving in the state and felt that more cricketers from Kashmir will make it to the national side in the future.
