Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the hero in team India’s win in the Test Series against West Indies. After scoring to back-to-back centuries in the series and picking up 17 wickets, Ashwin was named as the Man of The Series of his impressive performance with both bat and ball. It was the sixth Man of the Series trophy that Ashwin received and it is a record.

Rain has played a part in the final cum fourth Test which resulted in India lose the Top 1 ranking in Test as the rivals Pakistan jumped up drawing the Series 2-2 with England.

Ashwin also fended off criticism from a fan who told him that all of his performances had come against weaker oppositions

Speaking about the award, Ashwin said “why the trophy was manufactured and designed the way it had been. The way the title was spinning, Ashwin stated that it was because he was a spinner.”

Many had raised their eyebrows when Ashwin was promoted to the No.6 spot in the batting order. However, reversing everyone’s prediction, Ashwin smashed two centuries and proved that he can even bat at times. This helped him to claim the top spot on the ICC World Rankings for all-rounders in Tests.
