Rohit Sharma Signalling Ravi Shastri To Send MS Dhoni At No.3 And Won The Hearts Of People

Team India’s current skipper Rohit Sharma won a lot of hearts with his phenomenal batting display in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. He played a captain’s innings to steer India to an 88-run win and take the 3-match series lead to 2-0.

In the absence of regular skipper, Rohit has taken the responsibility of leading an international side in his stride and done quite well. He has been praised by former India players for the way he has handled his bowlers and captained the side in the ODI series after the loss of the first match in Dharamsala.

Rohit’s pro-active captaincy was on showcase again in Indore right after he was dismissed following his brilliant knock. Rohit smashed 118 off 43 balls to destroy the Sri Lankan bowling attack, notching the joint-fastest T20I hundred. But something caught the eyes of the crowd and the viewers and it is the sign language between Rohit Sharma and the India coach Ravi Shastri.

Even after his blitz, Rohit was in captain mode and when asked by coach Ravi Shastri who to send in next, Rohit immediately replied back with a gesture of a wicketkeeper for MS Dhoni. And MS Dhoni stepped in after his dismissal.

Even VVS Laxman, who was in the commentary box at the time, praised Rohit his decision to bring Dhoni up the order. ‘Captain is the real boss’, isn’t it? However, Dhoni carried on the momentum with two sixes and two boundaries until Thisara Perera clean bowled him in the final over of their innings.

Well, for now, his gesture for Dhoni, the man who had bestowed Rohit with the opening slot years ago, is winning the internet.

Twitter Reactions:

Put to bat first, India were off to a blazing start as both openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma capitalized on the shorter boundary of Holkar Stadium to set up a carnival of boundaries and sixes. Rohit decked 11 boundaries and 8 sixes to amass his 35-ball century, the fastest ever by an Indian and the joint-fastest in the world.

Rahul, on the other hand, trotted his way to his second T20I fifty in the series. India amassed 260 runs at the loss of five wickets. That is the joint-highest by a team in the shortest format of the game.
