Virender Sehwag Shares A Picture Of Indian Women’s Cricket Heroes And The Internet Can’t Get Enough

The Nawab of Najafgarh, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recently shared a photograph with members of the Indian Women’s cricket team that reached the final of the ICC World Cup 2017 in England last month.

India women’s captain Mithali Raj had declared that the primary target of her side was to at least make it to the semifinals of the tournament. Her team not only achieved what it had aimed to but even stormed into the final, beating perhaps the toughest side in the tournament, Australia.

Sehwag sitting with Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy, Jhulan Goswami, Ekta Bisht, Poonam Yadav, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad met former Indian dashing opener Sehwag. Hence, Sehwag took to Twitter to share his delight in meeting some of these champions.

He wrote, “What a joy and pleasure to meet these wonderful girls who make us so proud. @ImHarmanpreet, @vedakmurthy08 Jhulan, Ekta, Poonam & Rajeshwari.”

Under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian Women’s cricket team had a wonderful start to their World Cup campaign defeating hosts, teams like Australia, West Indies, and Pakistan in the tournament.

Mithali Raj became the leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs by breaching the 6,000-run mark for the first time ever. In the semifinals, Harmanpreet Kaur’s heroic 171 not out against Australia took India to the finals against England, where they lost by nine runs. The venerable Jhulan Goswami was at her best once again.
