Shewag’s Tweet Is The Real Winner In Yesterday’s Match
Indian won the final match against Bangladesh in the Nidihas T20 tri-series in Premadasa Stadium. For the record, this is the first time a team won a T20 tournament with a six and the credit goes to Dinesh Karthik.
Although Karthik made his debut 14 years back in 2004, he is still seen as a batsman who plays the game slow and above all, his career has always been in the shadow of MS Dhoni. With the result of his performance in yesterday’s final, he is getting equal respect as MSD.
Bangladesh did bat first and set a target of 167 runs for India. Shabbir Rahman was the lead scorer with 77 runs off 50 balls while Yuzvendra Chahal got 3 wickets for 18 runs in his spell of 4 overs.
The Indian batsman started their chase with a steady with a good inning from Rohit Sharma. Though Shikhar Dhawan got out scoring only 10 runs, Rohit played a significant knock by scoring 56 runs off 42 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
After the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, no one could score huge runs under the pressure of Bangladesh bowling and then came Dinesh Karthik to bat in the 18th over in which he smashed 16 runs off the first 3 balls be faced. For the final over, the calculations changed to 12 runs to win from 6 balls, and for the last ball, India needed 5 runs and Dinesh Karthik hit 6 for the last ball and gave a memorable win for India.
