Smriti Mandhana Fails Yet Again With A Duck, And Twitterati Didn’t Spare Her This Time

It seems that Indian Women’s team has prepared for the toughest in the World Cup finals. With the very consistency in clinching wickets of the English, Indian bowlers have successfully resisted the valiant rivals, who were title favorites for their unprecedented winnings during all these years.

Especially it was India’s senior pace bowlers Jhulan Goswami’s show all the way, meanwhile, others kept their cool in the summit clash and restricted England to 228/7 in 50 overs with some disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. First, it was spinners who dent the English innings with three quick wickets after the hosts started the final on a positive note, with openers putting up the 47-run stand. Poonam Yadav struck twice in two overs, after Rajeshwari Gayakwad gave India their first break in the 12th over, and reduced England to 63/3 in 16.1 overs.

Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sciver added 83 for the fourth wicket to resurrect England innings before Goswami struck twice in two balls in the 33rd over. Sciver went on to score a half-century but became the third victim of Goswami. Katherine Brunt scored a handy 34 down the order to take England past the 200-run mark and that’s how the whole game has come to one side.

Now that it is India’s turn to chase the score, the maximum score is always expected from the top three players. People are now well aware of the fame Smriti Mandhana has bagged with her massive sum of the scores she bagged in the first two matches itself. This resulted in the audience expecting some good runs from her, fulfilling which she eventually failed. And, post the first two matches, in the following seven (finals is included), she barely succeeded in hitting two digits scores.

Coming to the stats of Smriti, she hit 90 and 106 summing up 196 runs in the first two matches together. Meanwhile, she subsequently failed in repeating the previous scores in the following matches. With-2.8.4.3,13,6,0 summing up 36 runs, she miserably became the scapegoat of Twitter trolls.

For all that she failed in the past seven matches, of which people had expected more from her in the finals, she was brutally slammed on Twitter. Netizens shared the stats of her and went questioning the form.
