Virender Sehwag Congratulated Indian Women Cricket Team. This Is How The Skipper Reacted

Virender Sehwag, the former dashing Indian opener, who has been leaving his fans in splits on Twitter uses every opportunity to wish (as well as troll) fellow cricketers for their performances. Sehwag yesterday tweeted congratulating the Indian Women for winning the World Cup 2017 Qualifiers.

India’s stand-in captain Harmanpreet Kaur hogged the limelight with her last-over six against South Africa in the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday. With eight needed off the final two balls, the right-handed batswoman shimmied down the track and dispatched South African pacer.

With just one wicket in hand and only one run scored off the first four deliveries, India did not have much going for it but Harmanpreet Kaur (Indian women cricket team skipper) heaved a six over the mid-wicket fence off the penultimate delivery and then a lofted shot towards long on brought the two runs required off the last ball.

He tweeted, “Congratulations, @BCCIWomen on becoming #WWC17 Qualifier Champions! Great finish and really proud of you”.

The skipper was quick to thank her idol. She tweeted, “@virendersehwag Thank you idol”.

Sehwag, who has been witty and appreciative on his Twitter handle, tweeted back within no time. He went on to tweet that, “You are becoming an idol for future generation of women cricketers. Yesterday, you were extra special. Keep up the spirit and belief.”

The Indians were to have the final laugh as the South Africans displayed underwhelming fielding and dropped too many catches and leaked runs.

India Vs South Africa Scoreboard:

South Africa: 244/10 (49.4 overs)
India: 245-9 (50 Overs)
