IND v AUS, 1st Test Day 1: One Ball, Two Batsmen Sent Back To Pavilion

After all the publicity and heckling, the series between India and Australia, it was the Aussies that took the initiative on the first day’s play. Visitors had a dream start as they dominated the first session and went into lunch at 84/1. Umesh Yadav dismissed David Warner to give hosts their first breakthrough of the morning before they added 82 for the opening wicket.

Matt Renshaw and David Warner provided a dream start to Australia as they added 82 for the first wicket in a pitch which started to turn right from the beginning of the Test in Pune. In the second session, Smith and Shaun Marsh would look to continue the good work of the openers.

Warner went a bit too far across his stumps and missed a Jayant Yadav delivery on the leg-side and it crashed into the stumps but there was no joy for the Indians as the off-spinner took an additional step ahead of the bowling crease; Warner survived.

Really, A Big Noooo Ball:

Finally, India made the initial incision. Umesh Yadav landed the first blow. Umesh Yadav has struck in his first over as India’s wait for the breakthrough comes to an end. Warner attempted to play an airy-fairy drive and could only eke out an inside edge back onto the stumps. Soft dismissal. The same time, it was Renshaw who also hobbled away from the scene of play after having retired ill. Renshaw is off the field due to upset stomach.

Australian openers extremely good to start in spite of some of the issues they faced with the ball turning and bouncing.
