Pet Monkey Kills 72-Year-Old Owner After He Was Trying To Teach It How To Gather Coconuts
In Malaysia, a 72-year-old monkey owner was killed by his pet monkey after he was trying to teach it how to gather coconuts.
The monkey allegedly bit Ngah Muhammad, the 72-year-old man.
Ngah passed away after he lost a lot of blood after one of his arteries was severed by the pet monkey.
The son of Muhammad also sustained injuries during the said attack.
Muhammad and his son were bringing the pet monkey to a school that was teaching him how to climb trees so it can gather coconut.
The neighbors of Ngah said that the pet monkey was already trained, but Ngah and his family members decided to send it to learn new tasks.
The family has a coconut grove behind their house in Malaysia, Mohd Zakaria Ngah, the son of Muhammad, said that he went to check out his dad after he did not hear from him, and when he went to the coconut grove, he saw his father lying unconscious with a deep wound in his wrist.
At first, Mohd did not realize that their pet monkey attacked his father, but after he went closer to his father, the monkey attacked him too.
Mohd screamed out for help and alerted his neighbors about the happening.
Mohd Zakaria Ngah said that they bought the monkey when he was still a kid.
During an interview, Mohd said, “I was at home when it happened. After some time had passed, I found it weird because it was quiet. I did not hear my dad, there was no sound of coconuts falling and there was no sound from the monkey.”
He added, “When I arrived at the scene, I was shocked to find my father lying cold on the ground, not moving, and not far from the monkey, with his right-hand bleeding.”
PERHILITAN, an organization in Malaysia, which is also known as the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia, captured the monkey after sedating him.
