Dog Badly Burned In Fire Dedicates His Life To Support And Comfort Burn Victims
Taka, a Shiba Inu dog, was badly burned in a house fire in October last year, and he had to undergo a lot of months in rehabilitation care at the Care More Animal Hospital in Martinez, Georgia, USA.
In a report that was released by WJBF, the staff at the Care More Animal Hospital was assisted by doctors from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center.
The doctors from Joseph M. Still Burn Center dedicated some time to help Shiba Inu to recover from his burn injuries.
Earlier this year, Taka recovered from his injuries and moved into his new forever home with the Care More Animal Hospital Vet Tech Crystal Lesley.
During an interview with Lesley, she said that Taka was meant to be hers.
Now, Taka wants to help other people.
Taka wants to dedicate his life to supporting and comforting burn victims at a burn center. He will be a therapy dog.
Taka will be providing the same support he once received when he was badly injured.
Taka will undergo training that will be led by Canine Training Project.
Mandy Foster, the founder of the Canine Training Project said, “Sometimes it takes a little bit longer, but in Taka’s case he’s nine years old and he has flown through his training. He’s brilliant.”
9-year-old Taka is now trying to work on basic commands, distraction training, and earning his AKS (American Kennel Club) Canine Citizen Certification.
Once Taka gets certified by the AKC Canine Good Citizen, Taka is going to start working on specialized training that is required for a therapy dog certification.
You can do it Taka!
