Born to run, a 9-year-old boy accidentally wins a 10-kilometer race after taking a wrong turn when he was running for his 5-kilometer race.

Kade Lovell, the 9-year-old runner, was born to run, said his mother.

The mother of the accidental winner said her son has been running since he was just 18 months old.

During an interview with a local news agency, the mother said, “He pretty much popped out running.”

But when Kade won the race, his mom initially thought he was having a bad day as he didn’t cross the finish line of the St. Francis Franny Flyer 5 kilometer race.

The mother said, “I thought maybe he is having a bad race. It happens. No big deal. Then these other kids coming running by. I was like, ‘He should be in front of them.’ Then I thought maybe he’s hurt. Maybe he got lost. Maybe worse could happen; who knows.”

But one thing the mother didn’t know is that Kade took the wrong turn and ended up on the 10-kilometer run route.

Shortly after, Kade crossed the finish line of the 10-kilometer route.

After crossing the line, the mother told Kade that “you’re in so much trouble, I can’t believe you did this!”

Kade replied, “I didn’t do it on purpose.”

While the mother and the son were in a confusion battle, other runners started to cross the 10-kilometer finish line.

It turned out that Kade was the first one who finished the race, not only in his age group but against all ages.

He won the race by 1 minute, against a 10-kilometer professional runner.

Kade said, “I accidentally won it, and they’ve been practicing for a long time. I just was really surprised I did that.”

Kade is now enhancing his running skills with a professional running coach.

He already had competed in the Junior Olympics, and now, he wants to try competitive running.
