Australian Man Arrested For Breaking Into Zoo To Feed Abandoned Animals

A man was arrested by the police for breaking into a Thai Zoo so he could feed the abandoned animals.

Minh Nguyen, an Australian, and 3 others broke into the Thai Zoo so he could feed tigers, elephants, and other animals, believing they had been left to die.

The animals were left alone because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

When the group returned the following day with food for the abandoned animals, they saw there were zookeepers who made sure that they had not been abandoned.

However, they said that they could not afford to feed the animals.

The tiger lover then set up a GoFundMe page and raised over $45,000 to help feed the animals in the zoo.

The owner of the zoo came across videos of Minh helping the animals and reported him doing the good act to the police.

The Phuket Police then came knocking on Minh’s door and arrested him for trespassing and computer crimes.

The owner also insisted that the animals were being adequately cared for.

The other people that helped feed the animals were also arrested by the police.

After the first trip to the zoo, Minh noticed more effort had been made by the zoo’s staff and owners.

During an interview with the DailyMail, he said:

They have definitely cleaned up the cages and the tigers look happier and are being fed.

The lawyer of Minh said that the entire thing is a misunderstanding and insisted that the mother of the zoo’s owner allowed Minh to feed the animals.

Minh explained:

When we did get charged and arrested, the older brother and mother (of the owner) came down to be witnesses for us. There is a bit of a divide among the shareholders as to how the zoo should run. I’ll be going to court on May 25. That’s when I will know if they want to make a case of it or not, but I doubt they will… I just want to help the animals.

Let’s all hope that the animals are being fed properly.
