Carlos Valdez and his wife love pineapple on their pizza and this is why they get their pizza from Papa John’s in Roy, Utah. But along with their amazing order every single time, they always have the same request, which is to have their pizza delivered by Derlin Newey, their favorite delivery man.

Despite being 89 years old, Derlin Newey is working hard to meet the expenses that the modern-day requires.

Older than your average delivery guy, this guy still has jokes and is known for his catchphrase, which is “hello, are you looking for some pizza?”

The Valdez family loves him so much that they made a video about Derlin so they can share his amazing story on TikTok, which they did.

He ended up becoming a senior sensation on TikTok, where the Valdez family has a massive following of over 55,000 followers.

As a lot of people were touched by the fact that Derlin was old and had a lot of good charisma in him, the TikTok community had something to offer for the kind old man.

In a bid to let the old man rest, the Valdez family reached out to their fans with hopes of raising money to help out the elderly man.

As a result, they ended up saving $12,000 for the elderly man.

During an interview with Valdez, the TikTok community came together and raised $12,000 for Derlin.

Last week, Derlin got a surprise delivery at his own home when Valdez showed up at his front door, wearing a t-shirt that had his catchphrase “Hello, are you looking for some pizza?”

She was also handed a check for $12,069 in the other hand.

Derlin, a former Ski Champion, has to work as many as 30 hours per week to supplement his social security and pay other bills.

Derlin was amazed and extremely happy with what the community had done for him.

He said:

How do I ever say thank you? I don’t know what to say.

Valdez was thrilled to be helping out the elderly man, who had managed to deliver so much joy to the people that want to eat at desperate times.

Talking about Derlin, Valdez said:

This couldn’t have gone any better. He needed this. I’m just glad we could help him. We just need to treat people with kindness and respect the way he does. He stole our hearts.

Such an amazing thing to witness in desperate times.
