The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) is responsible for determining the policy related, administrative, cognitive and intellectual direction, of the state’s higher educational system. The Uttarakhand Board also regulates and supervises the system of intermediate education in Uttarakhand.
There are large number of private and public schools which leave no stone unturned to offer quality education to the candidates. The state comprises of 15,331 primary schools which includes 1,040,139 students and 22,118 working teachers. The literacy rate of the state was 79.63 % with 88.33 % literacy for males and 70.70 %literacy for female.

The Uttarakhand Vidhyalayee Shiksha Parishad (Ramnagar – Nainital) which is well known as Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has conducted Class 10 Exams in the moths of March and April. Since then around 1.75 lakh students who have appeared for these exam are waiting for the 10th exam result. In 2014, the passing percentage in Class 10 Board Exam was 67.55 percent. The girls scored a 73.6 pass percentage, while 61.5 percent boys cleared the examination.
