Gionee, the Chinese smartphone makers has announced a new smartphone under the Marathon series namely Marathon M5 Plus on Monday. The company has launched its new smartphone at an event held in Dongguan, China. The new Marathon M5 Plus smartphone is an upgrade over the Marathon M5, which it launched just last month in India with high-end specs and impressive features. The upgraded Gionee Marathon M5 Plus has been priced at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 24,990). The company has announced that the device will be available in China from December 25, 2015.

Gionee is a Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm which was established in the year 2002. Since its entry into the smartphone market, the company has launched numerous Android smartphones both in the low and mid-range smartphone segments. Today, the Chinese firm took wraps off a new handset called Marathon M5 Plus in its hometown. The company has announced that the device will go on sale starting December 25, i.e., from the eve of Christmas.

Specifications

The new Gionee Marathon M5 Plus smartphone sports a 6-inch AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920pixels. The handset comes with a 2.5D arc symmetrical design along with Gorilla Glass for protection. The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core CPU which is paired with 3GB of RAM. In terms of Storage, the smartphone includes an inbuilt storage of 64GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus will run Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with Amigo 3.1 UI on top.

On the Camera front, the device comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera while, on the other side, the handset bears a 5MP front-facing camera. The smartphone is backed by a massive 5020 mAh battery. The company claims that the device can be fully charged in less than 2 hours. The company has also worked on saving power consumed by both chips and the screen respectively. The new Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is a dual SIM smartphone that supports two Micro-SIM.

In terms of Connectivity, the smartphone include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G. Sensors on the handset include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope. The company has not yet announced the official launch date of the new Marathon M5 Plus smartphone in India. The device is exclusively launched in China at a price of 2499 RMB (approximately Rs. 24,990).
