Samsung, one of the leading Chinese smartphone makers has finally launched the new line of Galaxy A series smartphone namely Galaxy A9 in China on Thursday. After launching a slew of mid-range Samsung Galaxy A series handsets early this month, the Chinese company has now unveiled its latest handset under the Galaxy A series. The South Korean tech giant has not yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the smartphone. The smartphone  has passed the Tenaa certification list on the China site, despite there having been no earlier iteration of the Galaxy A9.

Earlier this month the company has launched three new Galaxy A series smartphones namely Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 smartphones. The new Samsung Galaxy A9 smartphone falls in the category of company’s premium line of smartphones and features more powerful innards under-the-hood as compared to the recently launched mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones. Samsung is striving extremely hard to regain its control over the flagship smartphone market. With the launch of the new premium smartphone, the Chinese company targets its rival companies.

Specifications

As expected from the numerous leaks and rumours, the new Galaxy A9 (2016) smartphone sports the same metal frame and glass body design as seen in its preceding premium Galaxy handsets such as Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and more. The Galaxy A9 features a 6-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass along with a pixel resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and a calculated pixel density of around 367 ppi.

Samsung also touts about the minimal 2.4-mm display bezel on the device. The handset is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC processor, previously known as Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 clocked at 1.8GHz which is coupled with Adreno 510 and 3GB of RAM. On the Storage front, the smartphone includes an inbuilt storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

The new Galaxy A9 is a dual-SIM dual-standby smartphone. It is worth stating that the SIM slot in Galaxy A9 is not a hybrid dual-SIM slot as we’ve newly discerned in many other smartphones. While the SIM tray at the right side also houses a slot for a microSD card, a separate slot on the top is present for the second SIM card.

On the camera front, the Samsung Galaxy A9 comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS). On the other side, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The front snapper features some specific modes such as wide selfie mode, self-portrait mode, palm selfie mode and others. As seen in a bulk of the Galaxy handsets, the Galaxy A9 (2016) camera app can be ignited by double pressing the home button, which also features a fingerprint sensor with Samsung Pay support.

One of the amazing features of the Samsung Galaxy A9 is its gigantic 4000mAh battery that comes with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 tech. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, Beidou, NFC, Wi-Fi, and USB 2.0.The new Galaxy A9 smartphone will be available in three colour variants such as White, Black, and Pink colour variants.
