Jermaine Lamar Cole, who is also known as J. Cole, was born on 28th January 1985, he is an American, record producer, rapper, songwriter, and singer. Cole also runs his own record label, Dreamville Records and a non-profit organization called the Dreamville Foundation.

When Cole composed “The Come Up”, he decided to run his own record label with Ibrahim Hamad. The label is distributed by the Interscope Records.
