Happy Teachers Day India: In India, we celebrate Teachers Day on September 5 every year. This tradition started in 1962, and since then we have celebrated it. Teacher’s day in India is celebrated on September 5 because it is also the birthdate of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher, and statesman, who was India’s first Vice President and the Second President of India.

He is one of the most distinguished people in India. He was once an assistant professor and a professor of Philosophy at the Madras Presidency College. He then became the Professor of Philosophy at the University of Mysore: the King Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Culcutta.

He is also the first Indian to hold a professorial chair at the University of Oxford. He was once a lecturer at the Manchester College, Oxford in 1926, 1929, and 1930. Also in 1930, he was appointed as a Haskell Lecturer in Comparative Religion at the University of Chicago.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also received a number of high awards throughout his life which includes knighthood, the Bharat Ratna, and an honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit.

He is also one of the founders of Helpage India, a non-profit organization for elderly underprivileged senior citizens of India.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also believed that Teachers should be the best minds in the country. Since 1962, India celebrates Teachers Day On September 5 every year.
