Theresa May, the Prime Minister of UK, announces departure date of June 7

On Friday, Theresa May, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announced that she will be stepping down as the Prime Minister of Britain, which will open a door for a new leader who is probably going to push for a more decisive deal for Brexit.

The departure of Theresa May as the Conservative Party Leader will be on June 7, she announced the date yesterday.

Fighting back tears, Theresa said she is humiliated for her failed efforts to find a Brexit deal that the British parliament could ratify.

Theresa May said, “I will shortly leave the job that has been the honor of my life to hold,”

She added, “The second female prime minister, but certainly not the last.”

Theresa continued with, “I do so with no ill will but with enormous and enduring gratitude to have had the opportunity to serve the country I love.”

Theresa May was once a supporter of the EU membership, who won the top job in the turmoil after the 2016 Brexit vote.

Theresa May added, “It is, and will always remain, a matter of deep regret to me that I have not been able to deliver Brexit.”

Boris Johnson, the expected person to replace Theresa May, thanked her for her “stoical service to our country and the Conservative Party.”

He added, “It is now time to follow her urgings: to come together and deliver Brexit.”
