Since the year 1980, the world has been celebrating World Tourism Day on September 27 each year. This day was set by the United Nation’s UN World Tourism Organization. This day was commemorated to celebrate a milestone in global tourism. The main purpose of this day is to increase the role of tourism within the international community and to show how it is capable of affecting social, cultural, political, and economic values worldwide.

Late Ignatius Amaduwa Atigbi, a Nigerian national, was the one that presented the idea of marking September 27 of each year as the World Tourism Day.

Tourism allows people from all over the world to experience something that they have never felt before by traveling a country of their choice. It is a highlight to our humanity and plays a huge role in removing racism in times like this. The more we explore, the better our minds become in accepting different cultures and people of color.
