Hyderabad: KTR Requests Centre to Hold India Telecom Summit 2018

Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao requested the Union Minister of State to hold the India Telecom Summit 2018 in Hyderabad. This is because the government is planning to announce an industrial park dedicated to telecom manufacturing.

In 2016 a progressive policy is introduced in nine sub-sector policies, for the promotion of electronics promotion, LOT, data centers, and others by State`s Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C).

“We would like to use this opportunity to showcase the region’s readiness to host telecom equipment manufacturers in the sector and host the India Telecom Summit 2018 in Hyderabad under the guidance of your Ministry anytime in the months of January-March of 2018,” said K T Ramarao in a letter to Union Minister of State Manoj Sinha.

He also said, “We shall strive to gather participation from more than 500 prominent key industry figures, experts and professionals including heads of regulatory authorities, chairmen and CEOs of leading communications service providers like Reliance, Airtel, Vodafone and industry influencers like Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Association of Competitive Telecom Operators (ACTO) and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (TEMA)”.

The minister said in a letter that the Government of Telangana shall strive to gather participation from 500+ key industry figures, experts, and professionals which included the heads of regulatory authorities, chairmen and CEOs of leading Telecom industry like Reliance, Airtel, Vodafone etc.

“Owing to our proactive policies and stable political environment, we are seeing immense traction for R&D and manufacturing of electronics and IT products in the State,” he said.

“We are currently in the implementation phase with an aim to connect each and every home in the State with an optic fiber connection to give very high-speed broadband.  This will create a very big market for telecommunication equipment in the State,” he pointed out.
