Hyderabad: Rains To Continue For Two More Days
Heavy rains are being witnessed in Hyderabad and the situation continues for 2 more days. A low-pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal till coastal Odisha with an associated upper air cyclonic circulation which resulted in heavy rains in the state of Telangana.
No major improvement is seen in the water levels of major reservoirs. Since last 24 hours, there are small showers with moderate rains are observed at most places. Heavy rains are seen in Warangal, and Khammam, Districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad are observed with deficient than normal rains. The rainfall is recorded at 4 cms at Khanapur in Warangal district.
“Water is being released partially after considering water levels in Almatti and Narayanpur reservoirs. The 15 tmc water sought from Karnataka government, will be used only for drinking water purposes and unless there are good rains, total cultivation area in TS could come down considerably,” the official said.
It is reported that about 7,850 cusecs of water are released from Narayanpur project in Karnataka. But the inflows at Jurala 2,169 cusec, Nagarjuna Sagar 850 cusec, and Srisailam project 1995 cusec.
To bring the city to normal position the Telangana government has deployed about 140 monsoon and 50 50 voluntary teams in the city.
Municipal Administration Minister KTR also said that they have plans improve the drainage and sewage systems after this monsoon.
