Uttar Pradesh, India: A 12-year-old girl from Maharajganj was raped and murdered by a pedophile, confirmed the police on Sunday.

The body of the 12-year-old girl, who was not named, was found from a forest in Sohagi Barwa Wildlife Sanctuary.

She went missing on the evening of Friday, she was found on the evening of Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan said that a case has been registered against 1 pedophile, who has been identified as Manoj Paswan.

Paswan is currently facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The main accused has been arrested.

An official investigation has been launched by the authorities.

The body of the girl has been sent for an autopsy, said Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan.

This is not the first time something similar happened in India recently.

On August 22, 2020, the police announced that a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped, killed, and had her body dumped in a septic tank of a house.

The incident happened in the Indian state of West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.

3 people have been arrested by the police. They were identified as Rahman Ali, Jamirul Haque and Tamirul Haque.

They were produced before the court on August 21, 2020, and they were remanded to 8 days of police custody, said the police.
