27-Year-Old Woman Set On Fire By 3 Indian Men For Resisting Molestation

Korba, India: A 27-year-old woman from Chhattisgarh was set on fire by 3 men for fighting back when she was being molested.

The news was announced by the police on Friday,

According to reports, the incident happened on the evening of May 6, 2020, at a village that is under the jurisdictions of the Bango Police Department.

The accused 3 men were arrested by the police on May 7, 2020.

According to Pankaj Patel, the Sub Divisional Officer of the Katghora Area, said that the woman, whose identity was not shared with the public, was alone in her house when 25-year-old Sharad Masih, 22-year-old Pritam Paikra, and 22-year-old Saroj God, arrived and started to molest her.

When she started to scream for help and fought back, the 3 men poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

After doing the horrible crime, the 3 men left.

The 3 men did the attack when the husband of the woman was not at home.

The police said that the husband had gone to their maternal grandfather’s house and came back home to find his wife in flames.

He doused the flames and rushed his 27-year-old wife to a local hospital.

The 27-year-old woman suffered 60 percent burn injuries on her body.

The statement of the woman has been recorded at the hospital and has arrested the 3 men.

They are facing charges under the IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections 307 (attempt to murder), 354 (molestation), and 34 (common intention).

Because of the severity of her injuries, the woman had to be shifted to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS).
