Constable Transferred After Stopping Gujarat Minister’s Son And Friends For Violating Coronavirus Lockdown Rules
Son of a minister in Gujarat and his 2 friends were arrested by the police in Surat on Sunday for violating the coronavirus lockdown restrictions and curfew rules that are imposed in the city due to the surge of coronavirus cases.
The 3 were released on bail afterward.
The son of Minister of State for Health Kumar Kanani and 2 of his friends were arrested by the police.
Prakash, and two of his friends, Dushyant Godhani and Sanjay Kakadia, allegedly had an altercation with a woman police constable, Sunita Yadav, on a road during curfew hours.
The incident happened on the evening of July 9, 2020.
Yadav, who is from the Varachha Police Station, was posted on a bandobast duty when the 3 were caught.
Prakash, Dushyant, and Sanjay were stopped at around 10:35 pm near Mini Bazar in Varachha area.
A video of the incident is currently viral on social media.
Constable Yadav was transferred from the Varachha police station to police headquarters while ordering an inquiry into the episode.
Yadav said that 5 youths were caught traveling in a car without wearing masks during curfew hours.
When she snatched the keys of the car, one of the youths called the minister’s son, who reached the spot.
In the video, the Yadav could be seen and heard talking with the Minister.
The Varachha police registered a case against the 3 for violating lockdown and curfew rules under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Epidemic Diseases Act.

Assistant Commissioner of police ‘A’ Division CK Patel said:
We arrested all the accused for violating curfew rules and released them on bail on Sunday.
Yadav has been placed on sick leave.
