Consumer Court In Pune Fines Restaurant And Zomato With Rs. 55,000 For Serving Chicken 2 Times To A Lawyer Who Ordered A Vegetarian Dish
A consumer court in Pune fined Zomato, a food delivery app, and a local restaurant with Rs. 55,000 for handing out chicken 2 times to a lawyer who ordered a vegetarian dish from the restaurant.
Reports suggest that the consumer court in Pune has asked the food delivery platform to pay the Rs. 55,000 fine within 45 days to Shanmukh Deshmukh, a lawyer in Pune.
Deshmukh says that Zomato delivered a non-vegetarian dish not once, but twice.
Deshmukh says that he ordered Paneer Butter Masala from the restaurant, but they kept on delivering Butter Chicken instead.
Deshmukh realized that the dish was chicken when he ate it, and did not realize that it was chicken because both of the dishes look alike.
The lawyer registered a complaint against Zomato and the restaurant.
The consumer court ruled out that the error was done by both the food delivery platform and the restaurant.
The restaurant admitted that they committed a mistake in the court hearing.
The restaurant and the food delivery platform were asked by the consumer court to pay the fine of Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 5,000 for the mental stress they have caused to the lawyer.
