A 14-year-old deaf and mute girl was raped by 2 people, which includes a minor, in the Rewa District of Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, the incident happened in Baikunthpur City, which is located 23 kilometers away from Rewa on the evening of January 13, 2020.

Dipak Sakat, the accused, and the 17-year-old minor were arrested by the police.

Abid Khan, the District Superintendent of Police, said the girl was going home when the 2 rapists stopped her.

DSP Khan said, “When the girl was going home around 9 pm, the accused stopped her and forcibly took her to a deserted house in Baikunthpur where they raped her.”

Dipak Sakat and the 17-year-old minor were booked under relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) for gang-rape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.

The 2 rapists will be produced in separate courts.

DSP Khan said a sign language interpreter has been brought in to communicate with the survivor to know the details about the rape incident.

The police didn’t release an official statement about the current health condition of the 14-year-old girl from Rewa.
