Gajraj, an elephant, attacked and killed a caretaker while he was being taken for feeding and caring at Maharashtra.

According to reports, Gajrarj killed its caretaker on the evening of November 16, 2019, when he was being brought to a place for his evening meal.

The incident reportedly happened at the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Gajraj, the elephant, was in an aggressive mood  since the morning.

Gajraj reportedly attacked Jankiram Masram, the caretaker of the elephant, when he bringing the elephant for feeding.

In a post that was made by the Tadoba National Park, they said, “Yesterday a tragic incident occurred at Mohali Gate of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
A domestic elephant (age around 25 years), named Gajraj, trampled it’s long timed Mahawat (the keeper of the elephant) named Late Janik Masram, R/o Palasgaon, the village situated inside near Khatoda Gate, to death at the place where these elephants do camp and being fed.”

 

The attack killed Jankiram instantly.

The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district is spread in over 116.55 square kilometers.

It is still not clear if the family of Jankiram will be receiving compensation from the government or if his family will get a government job.
