Indian Father Kills 20-Year-Old Daughter Because She Wanted To Marry A Muslim Man
Rajkot, Gandhigram: A father reportedly killed his 20-year-old daughter because she wanted to marry a Muslim man.
According to reports, Gopal Nakum, a casual laborer, hit Ila, his daughter, with a club at their house in Shah Nagar-4 in Gandhigram area of the city at around 8 am on August 6, 2020.
Rajkot city police commissioner Manoj Agarwal said that Nakum asked Ila to make him a cup of tea, however, she refused to do it and said that she would not even drink or eat until she is allowed to marry the Muslim bot.
As a result, the father hit Ila with a club, which killed her.
Ila fell unconscious and a neighbor called the authorities right away.
An ambulance took her to the state government-run PDU Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at 1:50 pm on the same day.
Police commissioner Manoj Agarwal said that Ila eloped to the house of the 19-year-old Muslim man that she had an affair with.
Commissioner Agarwal added:
But the boy is not of marriageable age and therefore, families of the boy and the girl persuaded her to return home the same day. This does not look like a case of honour-killing but more a crime committed in a fit of rage.
The father has been detained by the police and is currently facing murder charges.
Khumansinh Vala, the police inspector of Gandhigram explained what forced the father to do such an act.
Vala said:
On June 18 this year, Ila’s mother had died of a heart attack. On Thursday morning, when Ila started sulking, demanding that she be married with the boy, the father reminded her of her mother’s death just around a month ago and that they had still not recovered from that loss. But the daughter persisted, enraging the father.
The family of the boy did not approve the relationship and so did the parents of the girl.
