Indian Police Officer Beats Drunk Sikh Man And Drags Him By Hair For Not Paying Bribe

Barwani, Madhya Pradesh: A video that is viral on social media right now shows a man being dragged by his hair by a police officer because he refused to pay a bribe.

The incident reportedly happened in the Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh.

Prem Singh, the man in the video, was reportedly drunk when he was beaten up by the police officer and was dragged in the streets after getting his hair pulled by the police officer.

The video of the incident has opened up topics again on social media about the ongoing police brutality in the country.

According to reports, Singh, who is a shopkeeper, refused to pay the police officer a bribe.

Madhya Pradesh State Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja released a statement about the incident, where he said:

The concerned man Prem Singh has long been running a shop near the Pulsood police station. He was beaten, his turban desecrated and then he was pulled through the hair on the road.

Home Minister Dr. Narrottam Mishra of Madhya Pradesh said that action will be taken against the involving officers.

It is said that the police officer and another office have been suspended.

Barwani district Superintendent of Police Nimish Agrawal has also ordered a probe into the incident.

The identities of the 2 cops were not shared with the public.
