Kannauj, India: A woman and a differently-abled man were tortured, assaulted, forced to wear footwear, and were paraded in a village in UP’s Kannauj District because the woman had a man friend.

The incident happened 122 kilometers away from Lucknow, the state capital, on Wednesday.

The relatives of the woman carried out the horrible incident.

According to reports, the husband of the 37-year-old woman died 2 months ago.

The man, who is differently-abled, was forced to go through the same thing because he used to help her out in life.

It is reported that the relatives of the woman did not like the relationship between the woman and the man.

A video that was shared on social media showed the woman and the man being paraded through a narrow lane in the village.

The 2 accused, who are the relatives of the woman, have been arrested by the police.

It was reported that the woman got her head shaved, had her face blackened, and was forced to wear garlands made out of dirty footwear while they were being paraded throughout the village.

It happened after the 2 were spotted in the village together.

Authorities said that 8 people have been named in an FIR (First Information Report).
