Kathua Rape And Murder Case: Father Of Girl Who Was Kidnapped, Raped, And Murdered Asks Death Penalty For Convicts
Jammu and Kashmir: The father of the 8-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, asked the Haryana High Court to give death penalty for convicts and enhance the sentence of the others on Wednesday.
The father of the girl requested the court to enhance the sentence of Deepak Khajuria, Parvesh Kumar, and Sanji Ram.
They are currently in jail after they were handed out life imprisonment, the father of the girl wants death penalty for the three.
The petition of the father states, “It is rarest of the rare case and as per the standards set by the Supreme Court, that case of rape and murder by a gang of a minor child comes under this category more so when the manner of committing crime exhibits complete insensitivity, cruelty, depravity, and perversion.”
The father of the girl also requested the court to change the sentences of Surinder Kumar, TIlak Raj, and Anand Dutta, who are currently facing 5 years in Jail. The father wants life imprisonment for the three.
In June 2019, a Pathankot Court handed out life imprisonment to a Police Officer, Parvesh Kumar, Deepak Khajuria, and Sanji Ram for the committed rape and murder of the 8-year-old girl.
Anand Dutta, a sub-inspector, Tilak Raj, a head constable, and Surender Verma, a special police officer, will serve 5 years in jail.
The 8-year-old girl was kidnapped on January 10, 2019. She was raped by the said men for four days and was then murdered.
Investigations also revealed that the girl was sedated for 4 days by the accused men.
