Sonepat, Gurgaon: A lift technician was arrested by the police for raping a 14-year-old girl and for forcing her to take contraceptive pills.

Reports suggest that 21-year-old Arun Sharma, the lift technician, took the minor on the roof of the building on September 23, 2019.

The man promised the girl that he would give her gifts if she would come with him on the rooftop.

Local news agencies report that Arun Sharma knew the mother and the 14-year-old girl.

Subhash Bojan, the PRO of the police, said, “Sharma lured the victim by offering her gift and took her through lift on the rooftop of the building. He threatened the victim of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to her mother.”

PRO added, “He also forced her to take contraceptive pills. The victim sustained injuries in her private parts. The girl was spotted by a neighbor while she was coming downstairs.”

The neighbor went down and reported the incident to the girl’s mother.

The girl was rushed to a hospital in the area, where she underwent a medical exam that later confirmed she was raped.

The mother of the girl informed the police about the incident, and the statement of the girl was recorded.

A case against Arun Sharma was lodged at the DLF Phase 2 Police Station.

Arun Sharma is facing charges under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.

The police arrested 21-year-old Arun Sharma after the received an Intel from Patel Nagar in Gurgaon.

Further investigation has been launched.
