Most Searched Foods: Chicken Biryani And Butter Chicken Are The Most Searched Indian Food Globally

Water pours from our mouths when we hear chicken biryani and butter chicken, and it turns out this happens to people all over the world.

In a recent study, it found out that Chicken Biryani is the most searched Indian food in the year 2019. The unique dish has over 456,000 searchers each month.

Butter chicken, samosa, chicken tikka masala, dosa, tandoori chicken, palak paneer, naan, dal makhani, and chaat were also among the top 10 most searched dishes.

According to the study, which was conducted by SEMrush, Butter Chicken had over 400,000 searches on Google each month.

The samosa was searched 390,000 times each month.

Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish from Punjab, was searched around 250,000 times each month.

Dosa, a dish from South India, had over 228,000 searches each month.

The next 5 foods on the list were Tandoori chicken, palak paneer, naan, dal makhani, and chaat.

Talking about the food, Fernando Angulo, the head of communications of SEMrush, said, “We’re not very surprised by these results because the Indian diaspora living overseas has carried its culinary preferences everywhere it has settled.”

He added, “As a significant number of those living overseas are Punjabi, it’s unremarkable that food most associated with their culture is the most searched online.”

He continued, “Our study presents enterprising chefs living overseas and in India an opportunity because it reveals the size of the market for run of the mill and more exotic Indian foods. Restaurateurs who are willing to break the mould have an idea of the size of the market they can expect to cater to.”

Not only Indian dishes, but the snacks of our country were also listed in the study.

Samosa and chaat were 2 of the most searched foods on search engine platforms.

Palak Paneer and Daal Makhani were the only dishes that are vegetarian who managed to make the top 10 of the list.
