Officials arrested a couple in Malda after they allegedly killed their 16-year-old daughter and dumped her body in the Ganga River in Malda.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the parents were against the relationship their daughter had with a boy named Achintya Mondal.

Officials are considering this as a case of honor killing.

The parents allegedly killed their daughter on Friday in Mahendratola Village of Malda.

The arrest of Dhiren Mondal, the father of the 16-year-old girl, and Sumati Mondal, the mother of the girl, comes after the police received an Intel about the crime.

The police said that the 16-year-old girl was in a relationship with Mondal, who lives in their neighboring village.

Dhiren Mondal and Sumati Mondal were against the said relationship.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple killed the girl and placed her dead body in a gunny bag and threw it in the Ganga River.

The police have launched a search operation for the body of the 16-year-old girl.

Divers have also been assigned to find the body in the Ganga River.
