The world’s oldest parents are in intensive care after successfully delivering healthy twins in India.

The Indian couple, who are in their 70s, made headlines on September 5, 2019, after the mom successfully gave birth to 2 healthy twins.

The baby girls were delivered by cesarean section and arrived full-term and healthy.

But, the 74-year-old mother and the 78-year-old dad of the twins are not doing so well.

Both parents are in the ICU and are having health-related issues.

The doctor who handled the pregnancy of the elderly mom said that he was tricked that the mom was still in her 60s, which made her a good host for IVF procedure.

Dr. Sanakkayala Umashankar, the doctor, said, “It was only by chance after she had conceived, that her husband let out accidentally to one of the nurses her real age.”

Erramatti Mangayamma, the mother, has been in ICU since the day she delivered the healthy babies.

Raja Rao, the father of the twins, was healthy on the day of the delivery.

During an interview, Rao said, “Due to the grace of God and doctors, I am the proud father of two baby girls.”

He added, “We are the happiest couple on earth today.”

A day after the babies were born, Rao had a heart attack. This placed him in an ICU at the Ahalya Nursing Home in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

Both elderly parents are currently in stable condition.
