A 59-year-old dog owner was savagely mauled to death by his own pet Rottweiler after an argument broke out with him and his roommate.

Dave Whitney, the dog that we are talking about, was attacked inside their house on the evening of Monday.

The incident happened 10 kilometers away from Perth’s CBD, Australia.

Whitney, who worked as a broadcast operator before, was arguing with 36-year-old Brody Gardner, his roommate when his Rottweiler inflicted the deadly injuries.

Emergency services were called to the Halvorson Road home at 8:10 pm on the evening of Monday.

The 59-year-old was found with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics worked to keep Whitney alive, however, he passed away at the scene.

Detectives from the homicide squad were called in to take over the investigation for the death of Whitney.

The Rottweiler was seized by an animal ranger.

The dog, who was not named, was put down by the officers after it lunged at some of the responders at the house.

Gardner was questioned by homicide detectives after the attack.

He was released without charge.

Danielle Marendaz, a neighbor of the victim, said that they have sent out a complaint about the aggressive dog to the local council.

It is being reported that the Rottweiler that was involved in the incident had attacked a number of children.

Danielle added:

He’s attacked numerous children. It’s heart-wrenching because we could have prevented some of this.

The Rottweiler had also attacked its owner previously.

Whitney and Gardner were rushed to a hospital in April and were required to undergo surgery to address their injuries.

Hailie Featherstone, a local resident, talked about the attack in April with ABC, where they said:

They got in an attack a couple of months ago and I had to take both of them to hospital. They knocked on my door and they both had gashes on their arms and legs and stuff, and they were in hospital for like three days.

Whitney is known as a gentle and a man that is down to earth.

An official investigation is currently going on right now.
