Alligator Kills 58-Year-Old Woman In South Carolina
A 58-year-old woman was killed in South Carolina in an alligator attack at a pond.
58-year-old Cynthia Covert died after encountering the alligator on Kiawah Island around 5 pm.
The Kiawah is a beach and golf resort that is located on the Atlantic Coast.
About 5p today, deputies responded to pond near Salt Cedar Ln, Kiawah Island, for report of alligator encounter w/ a woman. The woman has died. A deputy fatally shot and retrieved the gator. @SCDNR & coroner also responded. Incident is still under investigation. #chsnews

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and local reports, a deputy witnessed the attack and shot the alligator.
The alligator was also killed.
An investigation is currently ongoing.
The circumstances around the horrible attack are still not clear.
