Bears In Russia Are Coming Out Of Hibernation 1 Month Early Because Of Abnormally Warm Winter

Due to abnormally warm winters in Russia, bears are coming out of hibernation 1 month early, which is showcasing how much work we have to do.

According to a report by the Moscow Times, 2 zoos in Russia have reported that their bears have been stirring.

The zoos also said that some of their bears are already coming out of hibernation 1 month early.

In a statement that was released by the Moscow Zoo Svetlana Akulova, they said, “Our zoologists were preparing for the fact that because of the abnormally warm winter, bears will wake up earlier. Therefore, in February, experts monitored animals around the clock, and after their awakening, they began to prepare animals for walks in the outdoor aviary.”

The statement added, “From March 6, Rosa, Aladdin and Budur will go out of their cozy lairs. You can see them in the morning. Closer to dinner, still sleepy predators are likely to return to a den for a nap. This is the natural state of the hibernating bears.”

Rosa, a 28-year-old Kamchatka brown bear at the Moscow Zoo, and 2 Himalayan bears – 26-year-old Aladdin and 25-year-old Budur – woke up 1 month early this year.

Last year, the 3 bears surfaced in April.

Because the animals are coming out of hibernation, the zookeepers will slowly feed the large animals with berries, and eventually, moving on to heavy foods, which includes meat.

The reason behind this is the abnormally warm weather.

Not only bears, but marmots in the capital’s zoo are also waking up because of the abnormally warm winter weather.

Sarah, Archie, and Nagayna, the rodents, woke up ahead of schedule and were seen leaving their holes.

The Voronezh Zoo, which is located in the South of Moscow, reported that its bears were seen last week.

Not only in zoos, but wild bears have also been seen roaming freely in a forest in Kiro, Russia.
